Den stora European AstroFest 2014 arrangeras i London i februari.

Nu är det dags igen! Dags för European AstroFest 2014.

"The Universe comes to London"

AstroFest är Storbritanniens största astronomitillställning.

Det handlar om en stor tvådagars konferens och utställning som hålls i Kensington Conference and Events Centre i London.

Det moderna konferenskomplexet ligger nära tunnelbanestation ochmånga busslinjer, butiker och restauranger. Alla delar avkonferensanläggningen har utformats för att ge enkel åtkomst för funktionshindrade.

Astrofest 2014 Session 1

Astrofest 2014 kicked off this morning with four talks the first on The Year of the Aurora, the second on the Voyager mission, the third on measuring gravity in the solar system and the fourth on exoplanets.

The second session started with a talk by Mark McCaughrean of the European Space Agency on ESA’s Space Science programme.

Astrofest 2014 – Session 3

The second day of Astrofest starts with a talk by Alan Fitzsimmons of Queens University Belfast on the Chelyabinsk Incident. On 15 February 2013 an asteroid entered Earth’s atmosphere and fell over Southern Russia and produced the largest known impact in over 100 years. The fireball was brighter than the Sun and injured over 1,000 people.

Astrofest 2014 – Session 4

The final session of this year’s Astrofest started with a talk from Rob McNaught on Great Comets of the last 50 years. Rob works at the Siding Spring Observatory in Australia and has discovered 82 comets and over 50 supernovae to date as well as taking the first image of supernova 1987A.
